Can we please watch commercials not written by 12 year olds?

I am so tired of recent commercials. A majority of them seem to have been written by 12 year old children. At the top of my list recently are the credit report for free commercials. Is anyone else hoping that guy singing will get laryngitis? If I hear that stupid song one more time! Thank goodness for the mute button.

Others that are getting on my last nerve?

Anything that makes a man look stupid.

There is a paper towel commercial that not only picks on the stupidity of men, but has included the boy child as well. How many paper towels will it take to clean up this mess my little moronic child spilled on the floor? Boy child: a lot! Dad: two sheets! Oh no, the mom has these correct answer because you know, she's the only one who ever really cleans around this place! Just one amazing paper towel will do the cleaning job! Wow. What would we do without paper towels, and a maid servant to clean it all up. Obviously the men would just leave it there and slip in it at some point. Or just grind it into the floor and carpet.

Pharmaceutical commercials. I am sorry but I don't want to hear about the miracles that drug companies are out to share with us. The information about the side effects are enough to stop anyone from wanting to ingest any of these.

Don't worry there'll be more to come soon!

New additions to the commentary

I have decided I cannot just pick on the print or digital media. There are so many goofy things on TV news, commercials, and television shows, I have decided to go ahead and just rant and rave about them too.

You can only be so good

Headline: New Oscar rule limits song noms to 2 per film

Commentary: Oh this is not the path we should be going down. But it does certainly speak to the "hollywood" feel good behavior. You can be good, but not too good, as you wouldn't want to be better than anyone else. We give first graders ribbons for participating so as not to hurt their little feeling and they'll try try again. The academy has fallen into the "let's never allow anyone to feel disappointed in life" category by making this change. If someone is a good composer and writes the best music ever, why should it matter that someone else didn't. Except that people who write trash and call it music will never get a chance at an Oscar if we don't change the rules. This mentality is pervasive and demoralizing. We live in a world filled with ninnies!

Oh yeah?

Headline: Bernanke: Danger of downturn appears to have faded

Commentary: Evidently Mr. Bernanke hasn't read the rest of today's news. Maybe someone needs to let him know of the fact that more people than ever are filing for bankruptcy, food stamps and housing foreclosures. This morning I was at the grocery store, an elderly gentleman in front of me had 12 items in his cart. Some soda pop, bread, a couple cans of vegetables milk eggs and
sausage. I think he tossed a candy bar in there at the last minute. His bill came to $46. His electric bill will probably be over a hundred dollars this month because of the heat. I am not sure where Mr. Bernanke is shopping, but he isn't buying his own gas or milk and I'm sure his house is paid off.

There really is something to this oil pricing thing.

Headline: Oil's biggest day yet drags down stocks

Commentary: The story is about how oil prices will be at $150 a barrel by July. This link explains in much more understandable terms. There is an agenda out there that most of us don't understand clearly. The rich will get richer, the poor poorer. If we don't all wake up and quit drinking Al Gore's kool-aid there won't be any quality to our lives at all. God is in charge of the climate on this planet not Al Gore or his minions of the world.

Oh look a Pringles time capsule!

Headline: Ashes of Pringles can designer buried in his work

Commentary: I must applaud Mr. Baur for his inventiveness and creativity. Fredric Baur invented one of the most widely used packages in the world in 1966. His patent was granted in 1970. He then, very creatively showed us a different use for said packaging. I think I would have loved to know him in real life. My best to his family, loved ones and friends. May you find peace in reminiscing about his life for years to come.

A Champion of healthcare

Headline: Kennedy Undergors Surgery

Commentary: This is great news for Senator Kennedy. However, I wonder, just wonder how many other people with the same condition were told by their insurance company to go home and die because there was nothing more that could be done for them. Insurance companies run healthcare in the U.S. Senator Kennedy has helped put this system in place. He has the best healthcare plan available to a U.S. citizens. We, the taxpayers, provide it for him. Shouldn't we all be so lucky?
